Do you ever question, “Who am I, and what is my purpose or identity in this life?“
There have been many times in my life when I’ve taken a step back and realized that things on this earth are only temporary and that there must be a deeper meaning to life.
I ask questions like, “What is something stable that I can put my identity in that will never change or be taken away?“
The Bible kept leading me to the answer.
I have been a Christian for 13 years and the Bible continues to prove itself to be true and be the rock on which I stand.

Stop Chasing After Who the World Says You Are
Aren’t you exhausted proving yourself to the world?
We HAVE to understand that we were created in God’s image.
But what does that really mean? Well, we were uniquely made and complex, created to reflect different aspects of God…His character and nature.
We were intentionally dreamt into existence by Our Creator.
…From the VERY beginning.
Then God said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness… So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
He gives us the ability to create, love, make choices, and even give us the capacity to reason and question.
We were designed to represent Him in this world.
Our identity is intricately woven into God and who He is.
If we believe the lie that we are defined by what others say about us, it’s like a rug being pulled out from underneath us.

Who does God Say We Are?
- Our Identity is Found in Christ 2 Corinthians 5:17
- Dearly Loved Children 1 John 3:1
- His Masterpiece Ephesians 2:10
- CHOSEN 1 Peter 2:9
- The Light of the World Matthew 5:14-16

What I would Tell my Younger Self
Since I was a little girl, I was bombarded with images of perfection and what the world thought was beautiful. I was constantly pressured to be perfect in everything: school, sports, and friendships, with no room to mess up…in my mind.
If I did mess up, I’d internalize it as “I’m not good enough” and “I’ll never measure up,” setting standards for myself that were impossible to achieve.
There was always this empty hole in my heart, trying to figure out where my identity and value truly came from. My self esteem was very low.
If I could tell my younger self anything, it would be: “Your identity comes from God, not from what you achieve or what you do for others. God accepts you just as you are.”

Final Thoughts
Our true identity is not in the fleeting things of this world or in the opinions of others, even the ones we love.
It’s in Jesus.
The Bible offers God’s truth and stability that the world will NEVER offer.
Question: Are you sick of chasing after materialistic things to prove your worth or will you rest and find peace in who God says you are, not defined by what you do?
As we continue to seek Him and His truth, God gives us the power to fight against the lies and live confidently and securely in the identity He has given us.
