How Does God See Me?

Do you feel invisible, unseen?

You can be in a room, an arena, or even a city full of people and still feel like no one sees you. IYKYK.

It can feel that way with God, too, sometimes.

You may find yourself in a challenging situation, asking:

• “Does He know what’s happening with me? Does He care?”

• “Does God even see me?”

Does the Bible Speak To You Personally?

When you read scriptures with “you” in them, do you feel like they are referencing:

• “You” (plural) – anybody and everybody in general?

• “You” (singular) – you in particular?

Are the “you” scriptures personal, or are they meant for someone else?

Maybe God was just talking to the Israelites back then, not you in the present.

Examples:

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future

Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

Individual, collective, or just the Israelites?

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you

Matthew 7:7 NIV

Individual, collective, or somebody else?

Yes, God DOES See YOU

God is referring to YOU, the individual. He sees everything that is happening with you and to you. And He does care about you, deeply. More than anything, He sees you.

For the longest time, I would read Scripture and assume the Bible was talking about everyone in general throughout the ages, but not me personally. After all, I’m not really that special, right?

Wrong.

I’m really special to God. He showed me.

Reflect and Remember

The photo above depicts an important time in my life, and every time I look at it, I know that God sees me.

He put that camel on the beach where I was walking…hundreds of miles from any desert…because He knew how much it would mean to me. That camel (and her baby) should not have been there, but they were. For me.

Whenever I am feeling invisible or unseen, I can remember this photo and know that God sees me.

God Sees People Throughout The Bible

God has shown many in the Bible that He sees them:

Hagar: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.” Genesis 16:13 NIV

David: “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I go from your presence?” Psalm 139:7 NIV

Jeremiah: “…until the LORD looks down from heaven and sees.” Lamentations 3:50 NIV

Jonah: The whole book of Jonah! Check it out!

The Ninevites: “When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he relented and did not bring on them the destruction he had threatened.” Jonah 3:10 NIV (God saw them and changed His mind!)

The Woman at the Well: “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” John 4:29 NIV

Peter: “The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter.” Luke 22:61 NIV

These are just a few examples of people in the Bible at the moment they were seen by God. Their lives changed in that moment…and for some, so did the lives of those around them.

Personal Reflection

Question: What about you? Was there ever a moment or time in your life when you felt unseen by God?

How has He demonstrated that His relationship with you is personal? Because it is!

Jesus died for one (you) and all (y’all).

A relationship with God is personal to Him— is it personal to you?
