God vs. Siri: Who’s Really Listening?

When we want to know something, we shout at our smartphones and ask the internet to respond with an answer. “Okay, Google!” “Hey, Siri!” AI technology in our devices makes this possible.

But did you know that your phones are listening to you even when you don’t command their attention? Why? Our information is valuable, nothing is too small, and the marketing geniuses know it!

Social media platforms also play a significant role in this. They track our likes, comments, and even the time we spend on certain posts. They analyze our preferences and behaviors to show us targeted ads and content.

Your Phone is Eavesdropping

The internet takes the bits and pieces of our conversations and sends them off to companies who want to sell you something. When you use the internet, ads appear that have everything to do with the conversations you have on a daily basis.

The LORD is the same way, sort of.

The Lord is Always Listening

I used to think that GOD only listened when I was praying; you know, “Our Father,…”

But GOD is always listening! Especially when we are talking with other believers.

When we speak with each other, the LORD is listening:

Then those who feared the LORD talked with each other, and the LORD listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the LORD and honored his name.

Malachi 3:16

He listened to the two disciples on the road to Emmaus after the crucifixion:

Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; but they were kept from recognizing him.

Luke 24:13-16

When We Complain

…and when we complain:

Now the people complained about their hardships in the hearing of the LORD, and when he heard them his anger was aroused. Then fire from the LORD burned among them and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp.

Numbers 11:1

Which is one really good reason for THIS scripture:

Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, ‘children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.’ Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky.

Philippians 2:14-15

The Power of Being Together

For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.

Matthew 18:20

And we gather in all kinds of settings; wedding showers, the fellowship, community groups, meeting up at a diner, you name it! GOD enjoys our company, especially when we gather together…we gather with Him.

The Value of Our Words

So be mindful of what you talk about because your phone hears you, the people around you are listening, and, most of all, Our Father in Heaven.
