Artificial Intelligence is a product of high-speed computer and learning algorithms. The Bible does not explicitly mention Artificial Intelligence, but it certainly has something to say about it.
In this article, we will explore some views about Artificial Intelligence and the Bible.

What is Artificial Intelligence?
Let’s define Artificial Intelligence so that we are on the same page.
Artificial intelligence is a human-made system that can do what generally only humans can do, such as learning, reasoning, problem-solving, and understanding languages.
As of 2024, artificial intelligence is realized as a large language model that can understand human languages and read images. The most advanced Artificial Intelligence systems can interact with humans to assist reasoning, brainstorming, and problem-solving.

In God’s image
So God created mankind in his own image,
Genesis 1:27
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
According to the book of Genesis, God created mankind in his own image. That comes with creativity, intelligence, and the ability to make good or bad choices.
Like all arts and technologies, the creation of artificial intelligence can be seen as the expression of God-given intelligence. Without God, we won’t have the creativity and intelligence to create AI.
Stewardship
God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
Genesis 1:27
God spoke of humans’ role as ” filling the earth and subduing it.” Artificial Intelligence can be seen as a tool to help mankind control and manage natural resources more effectively. It helps to solve complex problems, automate processes, and improve the quality of life.

Wisdom and discernment
Plans fail for lack of counsel,
Proverb 15:22
but with many advisers they succeed.
The most advanced AI can do some reasoning. It can be a good partner to bounce ideas around. In fact, smart uses of AI systems can enrich your Bible studies. We can enhance our understanding of the Bible by asking an AI system for multiple perspectives.
It’s like researching a topic on the internet, except that it gives you straight answers, and you can ask follow-up questions! Be aware that large language models, currently the most popular AI systems, are subject to hallucination, and they can confidently utter nonsense.
The sarcasm “It must be true. I read it on the internet!” also applies to AI systems. Don’t forget to fact-check them. (And use your wisdom and discernment.)
AI as the Tower of Babel
Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves
Genesis 11:4
Genesis 11 describes the Tower of Babel: humanity’s attempt to build a tower reaching the heavens to make a name for themselves. In response, God confuses their languages and scatters them.
Some tout AI as an invention more important than fire or electricity. While this is undoubtedly an overstatement (there would be no computer without electricity, let alone AI), we must be careful about the potential danger of mixing human pride with unchecked technical advancement.

Is AI good or bad?
AI is a technology. Like all tools, whether it is good or bad depends on how we use it.
Good uses of technologies in the bible
- Noah’s Ark (Genesis 6-9), a shipwright technology, allowed Noah and his companies to follow God’s plan to be saved from the flood.
- The technological advancement in craftsmanship enabled Israelis to build the Tabernacle and the Temple. These constructions helped people to worship God. (Exodus 25-31, 35-40; 1 Kings 6-8)
Bad uses of technologies in the bible
- In the story of the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11:1-9), people used advanced construction technologies to build a city and a tower that could reach Heaven. Skyscrapers are not the problem. The blatant exhibition of human pride is.
- Instead of building the Tabernacle and the Temple, the craftsmanship in carving and metalworking was used to construct idols. This use of technology led people away from God.

Being a Christian in the age of Artificial Intelligence
We need to understand that there’s only one source of intelligence and wisdom: God. AI may seem flashy and powerful. But a man-made machine that outperforms humans is nothing new — a pocket calculator could do that 50 years ago. We need to stay humble and celebrate our God-given creativity to invent such systems.
AI is armed with rich knowledge of the Bible. Being proficient in AI is a valuable tool for aiding Bible study and Christian life.

There are mechanical computers that use no electricity… They’re just incredibly slow at calculating.
Your portraying AI as some kind of gift from God. It
is not. I say it is more of the devils handy work. I was in IT for 20 years. There has been many warnings about it which fall on deaf ears. Money, power and greed will prevail because it can. I think everything is going to fall in place for the end times to happen. Second Timothy describes our current society pretty good. A society that for now has control of these machines. There is an old 1969-70 movie titled Colossus: The Forbin Project. I suggest that you check it out.
Hello this is Milton Jeffrey and I see A.I as being mocked, impersonated or even copyrighted by wannabes or some kind of unintelligent creep who is trying to exploit you for gains that don’t belong to them like being swindled all of your life by twirps.
