Do you always want to look good? Do you want people to think you are a good person?
Honestly, I really want to be one. I try very hard to do the right thing.
But the reality is different. I am not perfect.

Trying to Be Perfect
Trying to be perfect is exhausting. It drains you mentally, physically, and emotionally. You try to find the strength to be excellent. But it is hard and hard to sustain.
The irony is no matter how hard you try, you can never earn a perfect status. The Bible makes this clear:
There is no one righteous, not even one
Romans 3:10, NIV
no one understands; no one seeks for God.
All have turned aside; together they have become worthless;
no one does good, not even one.
Their throat is an open grave; they use their tongues to deceive.

It’s tiring to carry it all
When we try to navigate life on our own terms instead of surrendering to Jesus, we inevitably end up carrying a crushing load. We pile on responsibilities we were never meant to handle alone, dragging along the baggage of our past mistakes and lingering pride.
It doesn’t take long before deep exhaustion and complete burnout set in. Living disconnected from God will always leave us running on empty, but Jesus steps in to offer us an entirely different, lighter path:
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest
Matthew 11:28, NIV

The Promise of a Light Burden
Ultimately, the most freeing decision we can make is to surrender our lives to Jesus. As the only one who is truly perfect, Jesus doesn’t demand we figure it all out. Instead, He simply invites us to learn from Him. Taking His yoke isn’t about adding more rules.
it’s about walking closely beside Him and letting Him carry the weight we were never meant to hold. His approach is gentle, leading us into a deep, lasting peace for our tired souls.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Matthew 11:29-30, NIV

Surrendering to the Cross
It is important that we turn our hearts to Jesus. He carried our burdens when he carried the cross. He took the punishment for our sins so we could have peace.
We cannot find this kind of peace on our own. Jesus is the only path to true rest. Today is a great day to let go of your heavy load.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
John 14:6, NIV
