Purpose
To cultivate a spiritually vibrant, biblically grounded singles ministry that equips single disciples to use their gifts, grow in Christ, serve the body, and advance the gospel. This role champions the unique strengths and calling of singles, fostering unity with the whole church.
Biblical vision and values
- Singles are vital to the mission and can lead and serve powerfully (1 Corinthians 7; examples like Paul and Timothy are highlighted).
- Ministry is service using God-given gifts to build up the church (1 Peter 4:10-11).
- The church should teach a balanced, honoring view of singleness and marriage, free from shame or pressure (1 Corinthians 7).
- Leadership is by example, moral authority, and teamwork across men and women (Philippians 4:2-3; Romans 16).
Key responsibilities
- Discipleship and spiritual formation (approx. 7–8 hrs/wk)
- Organize and lead weekly or biweekly singles Bible talks/devotionals, emphasizing personal Bible study, prayer, holiness, and mission.
- Facilitate small “transformation groups” (3–6) or mentoring chains for accountability and growth.
- Encourage singles to develop and use their gifts in service (1 Peter 4:10-11).
- Evangelism and outreach (approx. 6–7 hrs/wk)
- Coordinate ongoing outreach rhythms for singles (friendship evangelism, seeker studies, service projects).
- Train and accompany members in personal evangelism and follow-up Bible studies.
- Plan periodic outreach events that are welcoming, simple, and sustainable.
- Community building and care (approx. 5 hrs/wk)
- Create a healthy, honoring singles culture—addressing needs without stigma, encouraging maturity in finances, character, and stewardship.
- Organize monthly fellowship activities that build unity across singles, campus, and marrieds.
- Ensure newcomers are greeted, integrated into groups, and followed up.
- Leadership development and teamwork (approx. 4 hrs/wk)
- Identify, train, and support volunteer leaders (men and women) for small groups, hospitality, teaching, and admin support.
- Collaborate with church staff (married, campus, teen, benevolence) for harmony and shared mission.
- Provide clear agendas, timelines, and communication for meetings and events.
- Administration and communication (approx. 2–3 hrs/wk)
- Maintain simple ministry calendar, attendance touchpoints, and follow-up lists.
- Communicate consistently via email/text groups; coordinate room bookings and logistics.
- Prepare brief monthly reports on wins, needs, and plans.
Qualifications
- Mature disciple with proven personal walk with God, humility, and reliability.
- Demonstrated fruit in discipling, teaching small groups, and organizing ministry activities.
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to work with diverse ages and backgrounds within the singles demographic.
- Team player who collaborates well with leaders and volunteers.
- Clear written and verbal communication; basic admin and scheduling ability.
Preferred:
- Experience leading a singles Bible talk or small group.
- Familiarity with training volunteers and coordinating outreach or service projects.
Workload and schedule:
- 25 hours/week, including one evening midweek, weekend gatherings, and flexible admin hours.
- Occasional added time for retreats or conferences as approved.
