Standing on Truth: Satan is the Enemy of the Soul

If we want to stand on the truth, we must know our enemy the devil. Every lie ever told since the beginning of time was from the father of lies, Satan.

Our perspective has power! As followers of Jesus, we must anchor ourselves in the God’s word to combat these deceptions.

Jesus Himself warned us about this spiritual warfare. If you choose to follow Him, expect pushback.

As long as we are on this earth, Satan will never stop battling for our souls.

Jesus promises Freedom

In John 8:31-32, Jesus promises freedom to those who hold to His teachings.

To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, â€œIf you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

John 8:31-32

However, merely reading the Bible is not enough. We are set free when we live by its truths. Knowing the truth is empowering, but it also places a burden on us to stand firm in it. We must make a conscious choice every day to stand on truth, despite the challenges and deceptions that come our way.

Satan masquerades as an angel of light, making it difficult to discern truth from lies. When darkness is exposed to light, it often resists fiercely. Nevertheless, we can become beacons of light in this world, showcasing the freedom found only in Christ!

Satan’s Lies Masquerade as Freedom

Many things promise freedom but deliver only slavery: wealth, career success, education, revenge, social media fame. These false promises distract us from the truth and bind us in chains. It is crucial to recognize these lies and remember their impact on our lives.

Are we cross-referencing the messages we receive with Scripture? If not, we risk being misled.

True freedom is not found in material or worldly pursuits. It is found in Christ alone. Standing on His truth makes it easier to spot lies.

No one at the end of their life wishes they had worked more or climbed higher on the corporate ladder.

Freedom is Only Found in The Bible

The lessons of true freedom are found in the Bible, if we choose to learn them.

Throughout history, various ideologies have stood in opposition to the teachings of the Bible. These include:

  • Science
  • Reason
  • Secularism
  • Philosophy
  • Enlightenment

These ideologies continue to be prevalent today. History serves as a valuable guide, showing us that nothing is entirely new; events and challenges repeat themselves.

From the establishment of major universities originally intended to train ministers, such as Yale and Brown, to historical events like the French Revolution, Christianity has consistently faced opposition.

Even mentioning Christ can often provoke controversy in today’s culture…

Interestingly, science can complement and even support Christian beliefs; they need not be in conflict. Yet, in today’s digital age, social media often creates its own idols, subtly shaping and influencing opinions.

How Are You Going to Respond?

At some point in everyones life they are going to have to figure out how to respond to Jesus.

Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.

1 CORINTHIANS 1:20-21

Accepting the cross requires humility and often defies human logic.

The message of the cross is clear: without humility, we can’t truly see its significance. Christ did all the work for us.

Some people, overwhelmed by the world, are grateful for the cross and thank Christ for saving them. They see it as a life raft in times of need.

Others, who believe they are already righteous, find the cross offensive and don’t yet understand.

Putting the Bible into practice helps us see God.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

MATTHEW 5:8

Conclusion

We need to filter what we believe as truth because we tend to seek confirmation for our current beliefs. Let your perspective be based on truth, not lies.

Education does not have the answer of what our souls are longing for.

No matter how smart we think we are, if our wisdom doesn’t lead us to the truth about Christ, what’s the point?

When we adjust our spiritual focus (returning to Jesus daily), we gain clearer vision and experience true freedom.

Are we willing to stand on truth and show people a way out?
