On Saturday, April 29th more than 200 women came together at the Trumbull Marriott for an inspiring day of worship, sharing, fellowship and lessons from God’s word.
This year’s theme for Southern Connecticut’s annual Women’s Day was based off of Luke 18:27, “Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.
Our keynote speaker, Maria Rogers, brought us the message, encouraging us to get to know God better by reflecting on all of his creation and most importantly by digging into the his word. She explained how the Bible, our GPS, can also known as God’s Positioning System, and he longs to lavish his love on us if we choose to follow his guide.
Maria leads the Northeast Region of the Boston Church of Christ alongside her husband, Jimmy.
Three women from three different stages of life also shared their testimonies.
Nikki Hornlien, a student from University of New Haven, studied the Bible and was baptized almost two years ago. She shared how God worked in her life after making a decision to give up her old way of living at college and surrender to him.
Laly Matos, part of the Southern CT singles ministry, shared about the challenges she faced during her childhood, high school and college years. She explained her need to change from being accustomed to relying herself to leaning on God for guidance and purpose.
Ann-Marie Meachem, part of the marrieds ministry, shared about how God directed her steps and prepared her in so many ways to face life’s challenges, long before she was even married. She spoke some on of the personal challenges that she had to wrestled with while being married and raising her two children, and explained how she learned to trust God through her husband and children’s personal needs.
