This past week was truly incredible as we were able to witness the baptism of Jonathan Heinzman!
“Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized”
Acts 9:18
Jonathan Heinzman was baptized on the 3rd of August, 2017 and another member was added to Gods household! John grew up with the examples his parents set of how to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. He understood, like Timothy, what it was to follow Christ from the a young age and his baptism this past week was the culminating moment for him in his relationship with God. Jon says a big reason that the “scales finally fell from his eyes” and he could see spiritually was because of Gods patience with him.
Jon feels like God was patient with him through his struggles and his low times and finally he made a decision that this loving and patient God that came in the form of Jesus, was someone he wanted to follow and worship.
One of the things Jonathan was most grateful for throughout this process were the people that really invested in him and sacrificed the time in their schedules to spend time with him to encourage his faith. People like Brice Wilson who every Sunday sacrificed his mornings to meet with Jon at Panera. People like his parents, Jim and Cheryl who Jon says, “i don’t even know what to say because they have done so much for me. They have taken me to all the events and really helped me and encouraged me to strive to follow God”.
Jon says that now he is a disciple he looks forward to growing spiritually and really starting to build some really strong brother and sister spiritual relationships.
This is an amazing testimony of the power of God to unblind people with his patience and love. To God be the glory!
