Mail Groups are tags that describe different kinds of E-mails that might get sent, such as Important News, Singles News, or Schedule Changes. These are available to be selected or deselected by each subscriber on the site. So, for instance, if 25 of the 120 subscribed users select Singles News for their profile (among other Mail Groups) when you compose your message and select the Singles News mail group, then those 25 subscribers will get your E-mail. You don’t need to know who is in the group, you just send it! You can select any number of available groups for the "Your Groups" list.
Roles are security groups maintained by the Administrator. Content such as posts and pages can be limited to subscribers assigned to the various roles. Currently, the specialized roles for SCTCOC.ORG are ChurchMember and VerifiedSubcriber.

A Church Member as defined on this site is someone who is a regular church member as defined by the congregation. This list does not constitute congregational membership, but relies on the official list for roles assignment. Church members have access to additional content and functionality and can be used as a group for receiving E-mails.
A Verified Subscriber is a subscriber that is known as a former member, member of sister congregation, or friend who may want to be included in mailings. These users have no special priveleges on the site.
