A perceiver is someone with the gift of “Prophecy.” He or she declares the will of God and holds tightly to the truth!
They are essential to the church as they ensure that our spiritual lives are in order as a first priority. Those with the gift help to ensure that no matter what happens, we are firmly planted and centered on spiritual principles.
Characteristics of Perceivers
Perceivers…
- Can often identify good and evil and hate evil.
- See most things as black and white.
- Boldly operate on spiritual principles.
- Eager to see their blind spots and help others too.
- Often dramatize what they “see” (think of Ezekiel).
- Are Introspective.
- Have strong opinions and convictions.
- Have strict personal standards

Typical Problem Areas for Perceivers
However, they…
- Tends to be judgmental and blunt.
- Can Forget to praise partial progress due to goal consciousness.
- Can be pushy in trying to get others and groups to grow spiritually.
- Can be intolerant of views and opinions that differ from his/her own.
- Often Struggles with self-image.
