One of the many things that I am learning is that nothing in the Bible is extraneous. Everything that’s there is there for a reason. Take John the Baptist’s clothing. Why does Mark mention what he wears? Because the camel hair clothing and leather belt were the traditional clothes of a prophet. Not just his words but his very appearance told who he was. God is attentive to every detail! So my questions to myself are what do my words and appearance show me to be? Who do I want people to see me as? Am I as attentive to details in my worship of God and discipleship as He is with me? God’s words are good food for thought….
